Virginia Blues and Jazz Festival

The 2010 Annual Virginia Blues and Jazz Festival will be held at Garth Newel Music Center in Hot Springs, Virginia on June 11th, 12th and 13th. Friday June 11th Chris Potter and his jazz quartet will open the three day festival with saxophone at 7:30pm. Doors open at 6:30 for drinks and appetizers. Saturday, June 12th will begin at 12:30pm with doors opening at 11am. Food and beverages will be available for purchase throughout the day. Bands include: Blues legend Marcia Ball, the guardians of New Orleans funk Papa Grows Funk,  Grammy nominee Ruthie Foster, the harmonies of the Holmes Brothers and Virginia’s own jazz guitarist Bert Carlson with Danny Knicely on mandolin. Sunday’s New Orleans Jazz Brunch tops off the weekend with pianist Hod O’Brien and guitarist Royce Campbell. Bath County Triathlon “Moomaw Madness”

On Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 8:00am the Bath County Chamber of Commerce will hold its 7th Annual Bath County Sprint Triathlon known as “Moomaw Madness”. Featuring a 750 meter open water swim, 20K bike loop on closed roads and a 5K run, this spectacular event is a definite “must” for all outdoor enthusiasts. Nestled in the western hills of the state, Bath County is one of the hidden gems of the Virginia Triathlon Series. Prizes will be awarded in over 15 different categories.
